Ernst Quarries Paleo Digs near Sharktooth Hill and Buena Vista Museum of Natural History are pleased to announce Paleo Dig Days 2012

EXCITING NEWS for Paleo Diggers! Ernst’s Quarries near the famous Sharktooth Hill has opened a NEW Quarry area for the Paleo Digs held by the museum. This quarry has not been dug before. It is pristine territory! And is located on the East Side of the hill from what is known as the West Quarry. Here are the dig dates for 2012.

2012 Dig dates will be as follows:

  • January 20, 21, 22
  • Feb 17, 18, 19
  • March 16, 17, 18
  • April 20, 21, 22
  • May 18, 19, 20

Prices listed are for each individual with several options available:

  • One day dig Museum Members $85 per day.
  • Two day dig (consecutive dates only): Saturday and Sunday dig $160
  • Three day dig (consecutive dates only): Friday, Saturday and Sunday $225
  • ˝ day special available at $50 (8-12 noon)
  • Educational special packages for groups are now available too. The museum will customize the information and dig time to fit your needs. Contact Koral for more information regarding the customized packages.

All attendees must be BVMNH Members. BVMNH one year Membership: Individual $25, Senior $20 or Family $75

The Spectacular World of Science
FRIDAY May 4th from 5pm -9pm

The Spectacular World of Science is presented by Buena Vista Museum of Natural History with support from the Kern Science Foundation presents the Spectacular World of Science! Enjoy an evening filled with Kern County’s Winning Science Fair projects, CSUB’s Chemical Circus, Weird Science with Dr. Dave, explore the world of science with live demonstrations, experiments, and interactive hands-on activities for all ages, promoting Science, Engineering and Technology.

Special Guest Speaker: Mr. Jeff Greason, President and co-founder of XCOR Aerospace. Mr. Greason has nearly 20 years experience managing innovative technical project teams at XCOR Aerospace, Rotary Rocket Company (RRC), and Intel Corporation. Time magazine named him one of their “Inventors of the Year” in 2002 for his team’s work on the EZ-Rocket.

5pm -7pm Kern County Science Fair 1st place winners display their projects for viewing.
On Stage alternating every ˝ hour Weird Science with Dr Dave and CSUB Chemical Circus
Other stations and small up-close demos ongoing around the room until 7:30 pm
7:30 Winning kids are Presented with Certificates from Congressman McCarthy
8PM Mr. Jeff Greason CEO of XCOR Aerospace will present Our Bright Future in Space, with additional Q&A time.
Ends around 9pm

KC Science Fair Winning kids from State categories will receive certificates from Congressman Kevin McCarthy. Event doors will open at 4:45 PM programs will start at 5 pm at the Elks Club 1616 30th street. For tickets call 661-324-6350 Advance tickets $7 Child, $10Adults or at the door $9 child, $12 adult.
