March 1st 10am -2pm Kern County Sheriff’s Dept Citizens Service Unit will be at the museum with their Child ID program. Each child will be issued a FREE Child ID card. Additionally Each child and parent participating in Child ID will receive Free admission to BVM for that day.
March 1st 10:30 -12 noon “Just for Kids” a science enrichment session, learn about astronomy and constellations with fun project presented by Stephen Collette
March 1, 3:00 PM “Kern County’s Red Rock Canyon” a Geology Presentations with Geologist Tim Elam Red Rock Canyon, in northeastern Kern County, is a stunning example of layers of rock exposed by erosion. Pink, red, orange, and other colored volcanic and sedimentary rocks contrast with black volcanic rocks erupted millions of years ago. Join local geologist Tim Elam as he takes you on a rich photographic tour of the geology, and history of the Red Rock Canyon.The presentation will be informal, and no geologic background is necessary to enjoy the event. There will be no extra charge for attending this event…just the normal Museum entrance fee.

Would you like to dig fossils? Then Join the museum team on a Paleontological Dig this fall, at the Quarries near Sharktooth hill. Choose a one day, two or a three day Dig. Half day options available too.
All attendees must be BVMNH members and at least 12 yrs of age at time of dig. To reserve a space call 661-324-6350 or email email@example.com
